In 2010, FarmRight was selected by the New Zealand Superannuation Fund as investment manager of a significant rural investment mandate.
FarmRight Ltd provides investment and full management solutions to well-governed, long-term investors in the agricultural sector across New Zealand and Tasmania.
KEY RESULTS
- Reduced business cost for team members travelling for meetings
- Reduced the amount of personal time required for travel
- Reduced FarmRight’s carbon footprint
THE ISSUE
FarmRight needed a solution to cut the time and cost of travel for its employees along with a goal of reducing the business’ carbon footprint and wanted to install a video conferencing solution at three offices – Te Awamutu, Christchurch, and Lumsden – to achieve this.
FarmRight identified three areas where a good conferencing solution would benefit the company and the environment.
- Reduce business costs for team members travelling for meetings
- Reduce the amount of personal time required travelling
- Reduce FarmRight’s carbon footprint
It also realised that the video conferencing solution would be key to keeping channels of communication and collaboration open as the Covid-19 pandemic escalated and travel was discouraged through Alert Levels Three and Four.
“The deciding factor was that PB Tech could offer a one-stop solution from analysing our requirements right through to configuring and installing the systems across our New Zealand offices - some of which were quite remote.”
FarmRight assessed its current technology providers (including PB Tech) when selecting the best technology partner to implement a video conferencing solution in its offices.
“The deciding factor was that PB Tech could offer a one-stop solution from analysing our requirements right through to configuring and installing the systems across our New Zealand offices - some of which were quite remote. This aspect alone was invaluable,” said FarmRight Technology Manager Robert Read.
THE SOLUTION
With a meeting room at each location, Read worked with PB Tech’s solutions experts and narrowed down the proposed solution to a portable video conferencing setup featuring a 65” Newline interactive display and Logitech video conferencing system.
PB Tech provided all three offices with the exact same setup to ensure the experience using their video conferencing solution was uniform across all three offices, speeding up adoption of the solution and simplifying the troubleshooting process.
“Because it was portable, FarmRight could empower any of their meeting rooms with video conferencing capabilities,” said PB Tech Solutions and Services Project Manager Tyler Coster.
THE RESULTS
With the installation of the video conferencing solutions, FarmRight immediately reduced the amount of travel the team was required to do, allowing them to gain productivity and personal time.
“We could not have asked for a better process, especially through the configuration and implementation stage where PB Tech took complete ownership.”
Read said, “We could not have asked for a better process, especially through the configuration and implementation stage where PB Tech took complete ownership and worked with the on-site IT manager to configure and troubleshoot the first install and then set up the other units identically to ensure an easy to use common user experience for our staff.”
FarmRight was able to scale the solution quickly from its senior team using conferencing units utilising Zoom to regularly stay in contact with all other team members.
“This kept all of our staff connected and efficient with the screen sharing capability during the Covid-19 lockdown.”
FarmRight also expanded the utility of the solution to its managed business units, enabling Farm Investment managers and consultants to conduct regular manager meetings while travel restrictions prevented them from physically visiting the farms.
